2008年11月，日本以日本最南端的沖之鳥島為由，向聯合國大陸架界限委員會提出南太平洋大陸架延伸申請。日本共同社稱說有關小組是在2009年9月8日開始處理日方的申請，預計兩、三年後，宣佈最終裁定結果。這表示說時間不多了。我們不能等待聯合國大陸架界限委員會做出決定才跟進。在南海先斬後奏是一個沒有辦法的辦法。
總的來說，中華民族自1940年代末所做的和說的，也都是外國人在過去幾百年來所做的和說的。
我們分別扮演了以下的角色：教皇亞歷山大六世；法學家John Selden；美國總統杜魯門等等。當然，國民政府的1947年底靈感和動作可能來自於Grotius的「圈起來「概念。因此，在條約必須遵守(pacta sunt servanda)的基本原則下，我們理直氣壯、站的住腳。簡言之，中華民族要沉的住氣，不要輕易的被外國勢力給分化掉了。
